On Tuesday, Dec. 13, residents of the Wantagh Fire District will have the opportunity to cast their vote for a fire commissioner to serve their community for the next five years. Simply speaking, fire commissioners are charged with the efficient management of the fire district and for those of you who may not be aware, they are publicly elected officials.
As a resident of the Wantagh Fire District as well as a member of the fire department, I strongly urge all residents to vote for and re-elect Don Snyder for another five-year term.
Don Snyder has been faithfully serving the residents of the Wantagh Fire District for over 50 years. He is a former chief of department, and is currently seeking his ninth term as fire commissioner. That, by itself, should be enough to ask for your vote, but realistically it is not. He is a man of unquestionable integrity and decency. Although he is certainly a man who, because of his long standing as a respected member of our community, commands the respect that he deserves, he does not demand it. Rather, he is a humble man who always takes the time to put the welfare of others before his own, and can always be counted on for his sound judgment.
As a fire commissioner, Don Snyder takes the time to get all of the facts before making a decision. His decisions concerning the operation of the fire district are based in large part on the following: the safety and efficiency of the fire department, the safety of the members of the community, and finally, sound fiscal responsibility. His many years of experience as well as his proven record are reasons why we need a man like Don Snyder as our fire commissioner for another five years.
