Jodie Schoppmann, an All-American runner at SUNY Potsdam, has been selected as the 2005 recipient of the State University of New York Athletic Conference's Dr. Dolores Bogard Award. The award is presented annually to a junior or senior athlete with the best combination of academic and athletic ability. Schoppmann is the first woman from SUNY Potsdam to receive this honor.

A senior on Potsdam's cross-country team with a 3.97 grade point average, Schoppmann is a music education and performance major in the Crane School of Music. She has been named to the President's List for five semesters and is a member of the advanced honors program.

Named to the SUNYAC All-Academic team in 2002, 2003, and 2004, Schoppmann is a member of Phi Eta Sigma, Phi Kappa Phi, Kappa Delta Phi Education Honor Society, Phi Mo Epsilon Math Honor Society and the Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Honor Society.

Twice an ECAC Athlete of the Week during the past season, Schoppmann has earned four first place finishes in 2005. Her recent wins include the 39th Annual UAlbany Invitational, Oswego State's 5K, the McGill Open 4K and the Ronald C. Hoffmann 6 K at St. Lawrence where she set a new course record.

A native of Levittown and one of the Bears top runners, Schoppmann finished 27th in the 2004 NCAA Division III Cross-Country Championship Race held at the University of Wisconsin to be named an All-American.
