Levittown's Schoppmann Receives Athletic Award From SUNYAC
Jodie Schoppmann, an All-American runner at SUNY Potsdam, has been selected as the 2005 recipient of the State University of New York Athletic Conference's Dr. Dolores Bogard Award. The award is presented annually to a junior or senior athlete with the best combination of academic and athletic ability. Schoppmann is the first woman from SUNY Potsdam to receive this honor.

Holiday Items Sales Under Way for Local Groups
The Levittown Fire Department is gearing up for its annual Wreath Sale. This is their 21st year spreading holiday cheer to the community. This year's dates are: Saturdays, Nov. 26, Dec. 3 and Dec. 10 behind HSBC Savings Bank on Hempstead Turnpike from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Sundays, Nov. 27, Dec. 4 and Dec. 11 at Levittown Fire Department headquarters on Gardiners Avenue from 10 a.m. to 4p.m. Fresh 12-inch double-sided festive holiday wreaths are available for $10.

The Wisdom Lane football team had another outstanding season posting a record of 4 wins, 1 loss and 1 tie.

Island Trees High School Athletics
The Island Trees Boys' Varsity Soccer team ended the season in impressive style making the playoffs. It started with an upset victory over first-place team Floral Park 2-0. Brian Balvin and John Pascale each had a goal in a game that knocked Floral Park out of first place. The Bulldogs continued their good play, earning a 1-1 tie vs. Wantagh. Balvin continued his goal-scoring ways netting the go-ahead goal, only to see Wantagh tie the game late. The Bulldogs had one game left and needed a win to make the playoffs. The opponent, Seaford, would go to the playoffs with a win against the Dawgs.
