(Editor's Note: The following letter is in regard to a request to enhance traffic safety conditions on Old Country Road at the intersection of School Street and Salisbury Park Drive as well as safety matters on Salisbury Park Drive. It was sent to Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi, Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray, Nassau County Legislator Norma Gonsalves, Hempstead Town Councilman Gary Hudes and Nassau County Department of Public Works Deputy Commissioner Joseph Davenport.)
We have sent in many requests to enhance traffic safety conditions at the above referenced location. One of our recommendations was to enlarge the traffic lenses at this location due to the many incidents of accidents. We have not received any replies to our many letters to you and Deputy Commissioner Davenport of the Nassau County Department of Public Works.
Also, we have requested that the double yellow lines on Salisbury Park Drive between Old Country Road and Carman Avenue be repainted to enhance safety at this location. The current lines are faded and can't be seen by motorists.
I would appreciate a reply to this letter as soon as possible as well as the other many letters sent to you regarding other Nassau County matters. Safety matters should be of paramount importance to the County of Nassau as well as to the community as a whole.
I look forward to hearing from you on these very important community matters.
