The Island Trees Boys' Varsity soccer team is off to a solid start in their 2005 season. The team is led by captains Giovanni Oliveri, Dimitri Rouskas and Byron Foong. The Bulldogs are undefeated in league play with 2 ties against Carle Place and Great Neck South. The players to watch up front will be Byron Foong, Matt Brownstone and John Pascale. The midfield will be anchored with Matt D'Albenzio, Kevin Marksteiner, Dan Fazio and Giovanni Oliveri. The defense will be held together with Dimitri Rouskas, Nick O'Brien, Matt Cohen and Paul Manganiello. Sharing time in the net will be Kyle Riegel, Mike Annarella and Matt Wierzbicki. The Bulldogs defeated Sewanhaka 3-1. Goals were scored by Matt Brownstone, John Carey and Stephan Barea. Kyle Riegel played excellent in goal making 6 saves to preserve the win.

The JV Boys' soccer team continued their quest for an undefeated season with a 2-0 victory over Sewanhaka. The boys came out blazing with 2 early goals. Shaun Rutherford took a pass from Eric Fazio and placed the ball into the back of the net for the first goal. Tom Willoughby scored the second goal off of a pass from Dan Carlson. The defense played a solid game, not allowing any serious threats for the Sewanhaka offense. Rob Collelouri posted his second straight game without allowing a goal. Dom D'Agostino, C.J. Kostaras, Carlos Gonzalez and B.J. Contorno supplied solid play off the bench to help maintain control and give I.T. the victory.

The JV Girls' soccer team added another win to their record. Alison Gronenthal had 3 goals and Meghan Biondolillo and Jesse Ciserano each added a goal to help the Lady Dawgs to a 5-0 victory over East Meadow.

The season of 2005 for the varsity volleyball team looks to be very promising. Although losing the first 2 games, the girls put up a good fight and are looking forward to winning their next games. The girls work well together and are led by senior captain Sarah Hess and seniors Jen Reno and Ashley DeLuca. Seniors Maggie Pepitone and Sam Modik are first year players and work very hard. Juniors Catie Hollett, Beth Hughes, Katie Blauvelt, Nicole Doller and Allison Llorente are excellent players and are assets to the team. Sophomores Jen Abramowski and Kristin Vesely and freshmen Deanna Brown and Megan Scher are great players and help ensure the future of the team. Overall, Coach Ciccarelli-Pamatat is proud of her hard-working team and hopes the future will be successful. The varsity volleyball team is very optimistic with this season and looks forward to seeing everyone at their games. The Lady Dawgs defeated Plainedge in 5 games. The girls came back and won the final 3 games to capture the win.

The Island Trees Cross Country team ran 2 excellent meets. The Bulldogs Cross Country team, coached by Mr. Peter McNally, competed in the "Monsoon Lagoon" Invitational meet at C.W. Post, running strong against fierce competition. The Bulldogs were led by Bill Dmuchowski with a time of 20:00 minutes and Tom Consolazio with a time of 19:15. The Bulldogs continued their hard work with an excellent showing at the first league meet. The Bulldogs were led by Mike Battafarano with a time of 16:52, Chris Bourgade with a time of 20:47, Mike Pellegrino with a time of 22:44 and Robert Howells with a time of 23:38. The girls' team was skillfully led by Elissa and Christine Smith.

The JV football Dawgs opened the 2005 campaign with a 26-7 victory over the Floral Park Knights. Offensively, the Dawgs played a well-executed, mistake-free game. FB Arton Lekaj ran the ball 9 times for 103 yards, while scoring 3 TD's. QB Frank Baglivo also put up some pretty good numbers for the day, throwing the ball 3 for 5 for 55 yards and rushing the ball 7 times for 75 yards and a TD. Frank also handled the kicking duties for the day, punting the ball twice for a 32-yard average and also converted 2 of 3 PAT's. WR Nick Butrico pulled down 2 catches for 45 yards, an average of 22 yards per catch. The "O" line of T Brian Smith, G Rob Martinez, C Justin Habermehl, G Justin Burger and T Pete Molino were responsible for 5 I.T. backs totaling 219 yards on 23 carries. Defensively, the JV Dawgs were equally impressive. Swarming to the ball all day were T Rob Martinez, SE Jesse Matarese and LB's Pete Molino and Bobby Montwill. T John Reilly and LB Anthony Ciaravino recovered fumbles. FS Frank Baglivo hasn't lost his nose for the ball, picking off two Floral Park passes. LB Anthony Ciaravino made a key 3rd down QB sack. CB Josh Meyer made a TD saving open field tackle. All 32 out of 35 eligible players played a key role in this victory.
