Letter Carrier Saves People on His Route From Fire
On July 25 in Brooklyn, Greenpoint Station Letter Carrier Tom Hynes, a Levittown resident, was on his route delivering mail when he noticed smoke in the air and realized there was a fire at a small apartment building on Jewel Street.
Saladino, Coalition Host Parent Training Seminar at ITHS
Assemblyman Joseph S. Saladino recently hosted a parent training seminar, entitled Protecting our Children from Sexual Predators in an effort to educate the parents of children who attend the Island Trees School District on the dangers of sexual predators and how to protect their children. The seminar was also attended by Detective Lieutenant John Allen, Lieutenant John Fowle and Anthony Zenkus, a representative from the Coalition Against Child Abuse and Neglect.
Island Trees High School Athletics
The Island Trees Boys' Varsity soccer team is off to a solid start in their 2005 season. The team is led by captains Giovanni Oliveri, Dimitri Rouskas and Byron Foong. The Bulldogs are undefeated in league play with 2 ties against Carle Place and Great Neck South. The players to watch up front will be Byron Foong, Matt Brownstone and John Pascale. The midfield will be anchored with Matt D'Albenzio, Kevin Marksteiner, Dan Fazio and Giovanni Oliveri. The defense will be held together with Dimitri Rouskas, Nick O'Brien, Matt Cohen and Paul Manganiello. Sharing time in the net will be Kyle Riegel, Mike Annarella and Matt Wierzbicki. The Bulldogs defeated Sewanhaka 3-1. Goals were scored by Matt Brownstone, John Carey and Stephan Barea. Kyle Riegel played excellent in goal making 6 saves to preserve the win.
Levittown's Ryan Darcy Named Manhattan Baseball Assistant Coach
Manhattan head baseball coach Kevin Leighton recently announced that Levittown resident Ryan Darcy has been hired as an assistant coach for the baseball program. Darcy will work primarily with the pitching staff, but will assist in all aspects of the program.
