It pleased me to read your article from the Aug. 26 edition about the historical markers being put up at our Levittown Greens. It made me want to personally thank all those who have fought over the past year to preserve our history. I am speaking of course about the Island Trees Memorial School group. I thought even though the local politicians didn't support this group they now see the importance of teaching our local history to our youth. I was a little disappointed when I actually went to see the marker and found politicians' names on it. It makes intelligent people think there may be another motive for the marker. Names or no names I am still glad we as a community, past and present, can remember our town and what has made it and continues to make it a great place. I also would like to thank Boy Scout Troop #291 for showing their concern for the community.
