Dave and Gail Cummo, President Gary Crozier, Roe Truelove and Past Lieutenant Governor Kevin Regan were among the Levittown Kiwanians recognized for their service to the Long Island South Central Division of Kiwanis.

Many members of the Levittown Kiwanis Club were honored at the Long Island South Central Division of Kiwanis' Annual Recognition Night. Outgoing Lieutenant Governor Sharon Smith presented awards to members of the division who held a variety of chairmanships for the Division and assisted her in her position as lieutenant governor. Levittown Kiwanians were honored for their service in capacities such as Special Assistant to the Lieutenant Governor, Key Club Chair, their work with Games for the Physically Challenged and Special Olympics and more. Although not all were present at the Sept. 12 Divisional Meeting, those who were there proudly accepted their awards.

The Levittown Kiwanis Club has been very fortunate to have the assistance of local sports organizations in collecting food for needy families in the community. Throughout the year Kiwanis distributes food baskets to local families that are struggling.

Kiwanis is able to provide these food baskets as a result of the generosity of Levittown Red Devils Football, Levittown Soccer and the Levittown Swimming Association. Each of these organizations have held enormously successful food drives. The Levittown Kiwanis Club is extremely grateful to these organizations and all those who have been so generous with their donations. They make it easier for the Kiwanis Club to help others in our community.

The Levittown Kiwanis Club will once again be participating in and volunteering at the Long Island Alzheimer's Foundation Memory Walk.

Last year the association raised $117,000, with $5,000 of that coming from Kiwanis. The Levittown Kiwanis Club alone collected in excess of $2,000 for the foundation. In addition, Kiwanis helped staff the event, setting up, flipping burgers, handing out T-shirts and more.

This year's Memory Walk, will be held at Old Bethpage Restoration Village on Sept. 24 and will include a Fall Festival with more attractions for the whole family.

The Levittown Kiwanis Club is a very active part of the Levittown community. Levittown Kiwanis hosts food drives, sends underprivileged children to camp, gives scholarships, sponsors community events and more. If you are interested in learning more about this philanthropic organization and the good works the club does come to a meeting. Guests are welcome to attend. Levittown Kiwanis meets every Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. at: La Focaccia Restaurant, 70 East Village Green, Levittown, NY 11756. Telephone: 796-4461.
