"Thank goodness school has started." is a phrase that most of us have uttered at least once over the past few days. As our children and faculty members get aquainted with one another, we would like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves to the Salk/MacArthur community. Your new executive committee officers are as follows: Kathleen Vaughan Ware, co-president; Cathy Kenny, co-president; Laurie Leverone Salk, vice president; Lori Caracappa MacArthur, vice president; Jeannine Gattus, treasurer; Arlene Mege, recording secretary; Maria Witcomb, corresponding secretary; and Tracey Thomas, historian. You may have already noticed some exciting changes that this committee has made.

First off, no more gift wrapping as a fundraiser. You spoke, we listened. It seems that parents, teachers and students have been waiting for a change, and this year we are excited to introduce our royal blue embroidered MacArthur fleece blankets. Embroidered with a white MacArthur logo, these blankets are perfect for cuddling up in the cooler months and enjoying a picnic on during the warmer months while you watch any of our wonderful sports teams play. They also make a beautiful gift for graduates and grandparents. One family bought one for every bed in the house. We will also be featuring the new Salk spiritwear. These beach washed crimson-colored hooded and crew neck sweatshirts, long and short sleeve Ts are a modern way to show your support for our middle school. They are on display in the Salk Middle School in the showcase across from the Main Office, order forms went in all of the back to school mailings, but don't worry, they will also be available in the main office. Another exciting change to announce is, for your comfort, all of our meetings will be held in the Salk Little Theater, (no more backaches). Mark your calendars for our first meeting which will be Sept. 19 at 7:30 p.m. Join us as we sample Grandmas Pies. With the holiday season not too far away, we will be selling these yummy pies as our fall fundraiser.

As you can see we have been very busy, join us and experience the new changes for yourself! We will also send the Levittown Tribune updates on our meetings. Our immediate past presidents are Pat Assortato, who will be our Legislator chairperson, and Maria Emeric, who has graciously decided to once again host the Doo Wop Oldies Spectacular. Mark your calendars for Jan. 14, 2006, show times are 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. and once again ticket prices are only $30, all seats reserved. Call 796-9408 for further information. Logo
