The LAC Yankees 12U Girl's Fastpitch Softball Team completed a tremendously successful summer tournament by going undefeated and winning the LAC Championship played at Azalea Park.

The Yankees defeated HBQVB (Queens), in the championship game, 8-6. Pitchers Franki Posillico and Taylor Tedeschi combined to hold a potent HBQVB lineup in check. The Yankees rallied from a 6-5 deficit with three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Big hits were provided by Gina Ditieri, Franki Posillico, Katie McNamara, and Sam Uvino. Taylor Tedeschi was named MVP for the championship. The team was managed by Valerie Posillico, and coached by Bobby Tedeschi and Dean Sussman.

The Yankees also won the Babe Ruth New York State Metro title in July, and came in fourth place in the Babe Ruth Regional in New Jersey held at the end of July. The team members are, Amanda Epple, Amanda Herold, Alexa Sussman, Taylor Kenney, Brianne Connolly, Leigh Ann White, Justine Abramowski, Jennifer Jean, Kelly Fitzsimmons, Gina Ditieri, Franki Posillico, Taylor Tedeschi, Katie McNamara, Sam Uvino and Michele Cozza. The league, the coaches, and parents are very proud of the way the team played.

The LAC 10U Girls Softball Team won their third tournament in a row by defeating HBQVB by a score of 8-5. The Firecrackers were a perfect 8-0 in our own sponsored tournament played at Azalea Road. LAC posted an amazing 21-1 record for the summer winning a Babe Ruth Mid-Atlantic Regional title and two other local tournaments.

Kristen Brown was named the LAC Tournament MVP for overpowering pitching and swinging a hot bat throughout. Also having strong pitching performances were Briana Lombardo, Tori Tedeschi and Taylor Rosenthal.

The offensive attack was paced by Jena Cozza, Emily Lyons and Kat Zabielski. The Firecrackers averaged 12 runs a game; combined with a solid defense this made them too overpowering to defeat.

The remaining members of the LAC champs are Amanda Crimarco, Kaitlyn Fitzsimmon, Cheryl White, Kelly McQuail, Hayley Myles, Colleen Smith, Aly Zabielski and Amy Zdrodowski.
