The LAC Softball Summer Classic is reaching the final games with all of the preliminary games being completed. The 16 & Under teams begin their first round of double elimination play on Monday with 1st Place HBQVB (Hollis, Bellaire, Queens Village, Bellrose) playing against Baldwin, fourth Place. The third Place Lady Diamond Pros, from Queens, will meet the LAC 16U team, in second Place on Thursday. The final games will be played on Saturday and Sunday at Azalea Road Field.

The 12U tournament has come to the final game which will be played on Wednesday, Levittown vs. HBQVB. The tournament began with Hicksville giving HBQVB their first loss. HBQVB has a strong team, but the Hicksville girls played errorless ball and played great defense. HBQVB then went on the defeat Merrick, giving them their second loss. It was great to watch the Merrick girls steadily improve over the last two weeks; they will surely be back next year. HBQVB then knocked Oceanside out and then met Hicksville again. They won the game, which put them in the final game against the undefeated Levittown team. If Levittown loses the first game, there will be a final game on Thursday.

The 10U girls begin their first round of their double elimination on Tuesday with the first Place Levittown A team facing the sixth Place Hicksville team. The second Place HBQVB will also play on Tuesday against fifth Place Oceanside White team. Wednesday the third Place Oceanside Blue team will meet the fourth Place Levittown B team.

The 10 & Under LAC Team now holds the titles of Babe Ruth Metro New York Champs, Babe Ruth Mid-Atlantic Region Champs and the Queens Lomangino Tournament Champions. Winning the LAC tournament would give them a sweep for the summer. Good luck to all of the girls.

All of the games are played at the Azalea Road Fields. Weekday games begin at 6 p.m., weekend games at 10 a.m. and Sundays games at 1 p.m. We invite all of the community to come up and watch our girls play.
