NYSSBA Mandate Requires School Board Members to Undergo Training
The Levittown Board of Education met on Wednesday, Aug. 10 at the Levittown Memorial Education Center. With no reports, correspondence or comments from the public to be heard, the board moved to action items and new business.

Being Paid for Not Working?
A former Nassau County employee was arrested last week for allegedly defrauding the taxpayers by at least $12,000. Legislative minority leader Peter Schmitt believes there may be another instance of wrongdoing and called on County Executive Tom Suozzi to place one of his top deputies on a leave of absence. Suozzi's office though, believes Schmitt is just playing politics as the race of county executive begins to heat up.

Island Trees Football to Offer Annual Gold Card
Once again the Island Trees football team will be selling their community Gold Cards. They will be selling the cards the week of Aug. 22. The door-to-door blitz will be taking place on Wednesday, Aug. 24 from 4-7 p.m.

LAC Girls Softball Summer Classic Season Near End
The LAC Softball Summer Classic is reaching the final games with all of the preliminary games being completed. The 16 & Under teams begin their first round of double elimination play on Monday with 1st Place HBQVB (Hollis, Bellaire, Queens Village, Bellrose) playing against Baldwin, fourth Place. The third Place Lady Diamond Pros, from Queens, will meet the LAC 16U team, in second Place on Thursday. The final games will be played on Saturday and Sunday at Azalea Road Field.
