The Nassau Community College Hockey team was led into prominent status by Levittowner, Head Coach Hal Joseph. Taking over the team full time last season, he brought the team from club status to varsity in his two-year tenure.
The NCC hockey team is now ranked 12th in the ACHA (Northeast region).
Coach Joseph attended Levittown schools from grade school through high school (Levittown Memorial), then attended Nassau Community College and SUNY Farmingdale.
He stated that hard work from locals Steve Kyairako (D), starting goalie Robert Joseph, Brian Bennetti (D), and Gary Knote was a large part of last season's success. They will be hard to replace. This season they will have to work even harder, to prove that last season wasn't a fluke. It is very hard competing with four-year schools. The league they play in MCHC is loaded with four-year colleges and loaded with talent, such as Fairfield and Hofstra University.
Coach Joseph is always telling his players, "Don't worry about who you're playing; just give me 150 percent and it will all fall into place."
He is a no-nonsence coach, willing to give 150 percent as he wants from the players. The '05/06 season looks promising!
