The Levittown Athletic Club 10 & Under Girls Softball Team went undefeated to win the Metro New York State Championship on July 22. The team had to wait an extra five days to play the final game due to the weather delaying the loser's bracket in their double elimination tournament held in Staten Island.

They will now represent New York at the Regional Tournament being held Friday, July 29 - Monday, Aug. 1. LAC is the repeat champion in this division.

The 12 & Under Girls Team will also be in Washington Township since they also won their New York Championship last weekend.

LAC has also begun their own tournament in four divisions; 10U, 12U, 14U and 16U. All of the games are being played at Azalea Road Field until Aug. 14. Teams from Hicksville, Merrick, Oceanside, Baldwin and Queens are also in this tournament.

LAC's 16U girls defeated the Lady Diamond Pros, a Queens team, by a score of 7-2 on Friday evening. The girls played an excellent defensive game behind the pitching of Kristine Cunningham. Kirstie Cummings caught a great game and threw a running out leading from third base. Michelle Bearman hit a long fly ball over the left fielder's head for a triple bringing in a runner on third.

The 12U girls defeated Merrick on Saturday, July 23 behind the pitching of Gina DiTieri and Alexia Sussman.
