This past Sunday morning the Levittown Swimming Association, celebrating its 50th Anniversary, had the honor of Town of Hempstead Supervisor Kate Murray starting the first race of the season. Murray, a Levittown resident and former swimmer of LSA, was proud to be a member of the organization which gave her fond childhood memories.
The Relay Carnival, the traditional first swim meet of the season, is a fun meet whereby all the swimmers have a chance to see where they need to improve for the upcoming, more competitive meets. The Tri-Sectional meet will be held on Sunday, July 24 at 10 a.m.
At the Relay Carnival, LSA held its first of two food drives. These food drives, in conjunction with the Levittown Kiwanis and the Levittown Island Trees Youth Council, support local food pantries that are desperately low during the summer months. The final and largest food drive will be held at the two-day championship meet which will be held Saturday, Aug. 13 and Sunday, Aug. 14.
