"Sweet Auburn! loveliest village of the plain/where health and plenty
cheered the laboring swain" wrote the 18th Century Irish poet Oliver Goldsmith. He could have been thinking of Levittown in the mellow summertime with its proudly individualized homes, stately shade trees, prim lawns, robust shrubs and vibrant gardens.
Once again, the Levittown Historical Society is asking Levittowners to send along their best "curb appeal" photograph; the snapshot that captures the beauty and pride of home and garden. The deadline is September 30, 2005 and the winning photo will appear in The Levittown Tribune and Levittimes (the newsletter of the Levittown Historical Society). The winning homeowner will receive a $50 gift certificate to Domenico's. Judges and their families are not eligible to enter. Send to Levittown Historical Society, P.O. Box 57, Levittown, N.Y. 11756.
