Levittown American Legion Post 1711 held their Annual 2005 Officers Installation Dinner on Saturday, June 18.

The evening also included a swearing in ceremony of nine officers; Post Commander Andy Booth, Vice Post Commander Phil Blum, Artie Delury Second Vice Commander, Frank Wicelinski Adjutant, Courtney Cacioploi Historian, Bob Schweitzer Executive Committee, Bill Hynes Treasurer, Jack Byrne Chaplain and Bill Kranis Sgt-at-Arms.

On hand to help celebrate the installation were community members, a representative of Senator Kemp Hannon's office and Legislator Dennis Dunne Sr.

After being sworn in and being presented with the traditional bell and gavel, Commander Andy Booth offered a brief sentiment.

"There is no greater feeling than being a veteran," Booth said. "I will fight for you until I die."

Before the festivities began, Past Commander Henry To presented a check for $1,000 on behalf of Post 1711 to a community member whose granddaughter is ill with cancer.

"The Legion serves the community," To said.

Attendees were then entertained with a DJ, dancing and buffet dinner.
