There was a light turnout last week due to the weather. It looked like it would start to rain at any moment as they signed in, but they had 36 men start and they all finished before it rained. It started just as they finished giving out the trophies and some small prizes that they had left over from last year's end of season luncheon. They played a scramble tournament. The scores ranged from 28 to 32 for nine groups. The winning team was Dave Malle, Jerry Skaee, Bill Krastel and Don Gaynor. They shot a score of 28. The second place team shot 30. They were Pete Guerra, Joe Magee, Jim Greene and Jim Bradley. The closest to the pin was won by George Hatalsky and the longest drive was won by Lou Neumann.
The next tournament will be held on Thursday, July 7. It will be the start of their match play tournament. Upon arriving at the course, players are asked to check the list on the bulletin board to see who their partner is and then sign in together.
Competition on the nine-hole course is divided into two divisions. Flight A is for players with a handicap of 11 or less. Flight B is for players with a handicap of 12 or more. The league is a 100 percent handicap league. Any man who is 55 years of age is eligible.
Note: Because of the rapid growth of the club this year, they regret that they must limit their membership. The time involved to make up the foursomes and the waiting time for all the groups to finish is prohibitive. If you have already called to say that you wish to join the club, they will accept you, but after that they will have to put you on a waiting list. For more information call Lou Neumann at 681-2056.
