The Levittown PAL sixth-grade Tomahawks had a very impressive 8-3 win over Bayville on Sunday. As with all of their games this was a total team effort. Things didn't start out to good for the Tomahawks when Bayville came down on their first possession and scored right away to take an early lead. The Tomahawks responded with a goal from Brendan McNamara after getting a great feed from Daniel Maini. The defense was the key for this victory. Jordan Rose, Tyler Hasset, Maxwell Transou and Thomas McDevitt, anchored by Joseph Connors in the goal, held Bayville to two goals in the fist quarter and only one in the second. Middies Matthew Mascoli, Michael and Joseph Esposito, along with Dennis Rothar and Harry Sopp kept the ball in the Tomahawks' end of the field. Benefiting from all this was the offense Jamie McAndrew and Thomas Nuckel each put in goals in the first quarter and McAndrew adding another in the second to bring the score to 4-3 for halftime.

The defense shined once again in the second half. This time Zack Trimboli, Zach Esposito, and Joseph Connors, with Thomas McDevitt in the cage, shut Bayville down keeping them scoreless for the rest of the game. Strong midfield play by Patrick Buckley, Timothy Bailey, and Patrick Dreiss allowed the Tomahawks to keep possession of the ball for most of the second half. Brian McGann started the scoring off in the second half with a great goal. Nuckel and McAndrew benefited from the great teamwork when each got another goal, bringing the score to 7-3. You knew things were going our way when Jamie McAndrews' pass to the crease was deflected off the goalie's stick into the cage.

This was a great win for the Tomahawks. Once again every player contributed to the victory. The team is going to participate in the Michael Eichenbaum Memorial Tournament on Saturday. It sure is going to be a great time.
