I would like to thank the residents of Island Trees who came out to support my candidacy for the school board. There was a larger voter turnout than in the past and I hope this community involvement continues. The more people who truly care about our children and become involved in the community, the better off we are. I would also like to thank those who supported the budget; we need to continue to support our community by providing the best education possible within the ability of the community to pay.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the residents of the Island Trees School District for putting their confidence in me by electing me to a three-year term on the board of education. I promise that I will bring the same enthusiasm that I have displayed in my past and present community involvement to the board of education. I will work together with the other members of the board to address the problems and concerns facing the future of education in Island Trees. I have spoken to many of you these past several months and have listened to your comments and concerns. I stated to you, I will be available to you so you may voice your concerns; I welcome your comments and suggestions. Finally, I will strive to ensure that we continue to improve our schools by providing a safe and secure environment allowing us to provide excellence and success for all children. Once again thank you for your support.

Paul Shapiro, a longtime Island Trees resident, is seeking election to the board of trustees of the Island Trees Public Library. Paul is currently a member of the board of trustees. He was appointed in November 2004 and has been doing an outstanding job. Paul is an honest, hardworking, civic-minded individual. He has been active in many community organizations, including Cub Scout Pack 600 and the Levittown Fire Department. Paul is committed to serving our community and our library. We support Paul in his bid to be elected to a full term as library trustee and we urge our friends and neighbors in Island Trees to do the same on Tuesday, June 7.
