Despite less than ideal weather conditions, the Levittown Kiwanis Club hosted its sixth annual Community Pride Day on Saturday, May 7.
The turnout was not what it has been in past years, when the wind was less and rain was not imminent but those who did attend had a great time. They enjoyed a jump castle, petting zoo, pony rides and the Levittown Fire Department's smoke house. They also took the opportunity to learn more about some community organizations, pick up some books and music given away by the Levittown Library and enjoy some refreshments and good company.
This event is made possible by a generous donation from the Levittown-Island Trees Youth Council.
The Levittown Kiwanis Club collects soda/drink flip top tabs, Campbell soup labels and General Mills box tops. The labels and box tops go to St. Jude's Ranch for Children, which they redeem for a monetary amount. The soda tabs are given to the Nassau County Medical Center Burn Unit. This program is coordinated by club member Tom Mawn.
Anyone who has flip top tabs, Campbell soup labels or General Mills box tops that they would like to donate can drop them off at one of the club's Thursday night meetings at LaFocaccia Restaurant.
The Levittown Kiwanis Club is a very active part of the Levittown community. If you are interested in learning more about this philanthropic organization and the good works the club does come to a meeting. Guests are welcome to attend. Levittown Kiwanis meets every Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. at:
