Ken Rochon, a longtime resident of Island Trees District for over 26 years with four children in the Island Trees School District, seems a good choice for a school board member. He is running for the open position vacated by Ronald Tauss.

Ken is a retired Lieutenant Nassau County Sheriff's Dept., former Deputy Commanding Officer of Training Academy. He is an active member of the Levittown Fire Department for 35 years, former Chief Levittown Fire Department from 1989 to 1991, current trustee Levittown Firemen's Benevolent Association, member National Fire Protection Association, member Firemen's Association State of New York, Nassau County and NY State Fire Chief's association and a certified American Red Cross instructor. Ken is also very active in sports with the children of Island Trees including Head Coach Island Trees Girls U-12 Travel Soccer Team, former Board Member Island Trees Little League Baseball and assisted the district in selection and purchasing of AEDs. Coordinated the training and certification of school district staff members in first aid, CPR and the use of AEDs in November 2002.

Ken is concerned with the safety of our children while they are in school and this is one of the many issues he will be addressing, along with continuing to improve the academic, music, arts and sports programs. We hope you will support him, as we think he will be a great asset to the Island Trees Board of Education.
