In order to become a member of Kiwanis those interested must attend three meetings and then the prospective members are voted on by the club's board of directors. The club encourages anyone interested in joining this active service organization to attend a meeting. Levittown Kiwanis meets every Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. at: La Focaccia Restaurant, 70 East Village Green, Levittown, NY 11756. Telephone: 796-4461.
The Levittown Kiwanis Club collects soda/drink flip top tabs, Campbell soup labels and General Mills box tops. The labels and box tops go to St. Jude's Ranch for Children, which they redeem for a monetary amount. The soda tabs are given to the Nassau County Medical Center Burn Unit. This program is coordinated by club member Tom Mawn.
The club was thrilled to receive 10,000 can tabs this month from a local Key Club. Anyone who has flip top tabs, Campbell Soup labels or General Mills box tops that they would like to donate can drop them off at one of the club's Thursday night meetings at LaFocaccia Restaurant.
