The Levittown 6th grade PAL Tomahawks had an impressive 8-6 win over a very hard hitting Lynbrook team this past Sunday. This game was a total team effort for the Tomahawks. The defense played great, the middies kept the ball on the offensive end and the attack scored when they had to.

The Tomahawks got off to a quick start with Jamie McAndrew (4G,1A) putting in the first goal of the game after receiving a great feed by Thomas Nuckel (1G, 2A). There was no turning back after that. Patrick Dreiss added another great pass this time from Patrick Buckley. Brian McGann (1G, 1A) added one more, unassisted to put the Tomahawks on top 3-0. Midfielders Michael Esposito, Dennis Rothar, and Timothy Bailey were relentless in the pursuit of the ball. Keeping the ball on the offensive end was the key to the victory. Defensively the Tomahawks played strong. Thomas McDevitt, Jordan Rose, and Maxwell Transou played superbly containing the strong offense of Lynbrook holding them to only one goal in the first quarter.

The second quarter started out pretty good for the Tomahawks. Jamie McAndrew put in his second goal off a perfect pass from Joseph Esposito. Brendan McNamara added another off a pass from McAndrew. Things looked pretty good to the Tomahawks. During a time out Lynbrook must have figured something out because they came out strong. Joseph Connors shone in the goal stopping shot after shot, but the Lynbrook attack started to come on strong, they were able to put three in goals to bring the score to 5-4 ending the half.

Thomas Nuckel got things going in the second half with a solo goal to bring it to 6-4. Jamie McAndrew continued with his great game scoring two more, one assisted by Thomas Nuckel and one assisted by Brian McGann. Middies Daniel Maini, and Harry Sopp continued the aggressive play on ground balls keeping the ball away from Lynbrook. The defensive play of Tyler Hassett, Zach Esposito, and Joseph Connors kept pressure on the strong Lynbrook offense the entire second half. Thomas McDevitt was fantastic in the goal making 5 outstanding saves.

This was a great win for the Tomahawks. But more importantly it was a great team effort. Six of the eight goals were assisted, the defense came together and worked as a unit to stop a powerful offense and the midfielders unselfishly gave 100 percent effort towards a great team victory. Next week the Tomahawks visit Farmingdale which is sure to be a great contest.
