The Levittown 6th grade P.A.L. Tomahawks suffered there first loss of the season Sunday with a 7-4 loss to a very talented Floral Park lacrosse team. It was Floral Park's‚ home opener and they came out strong scoring three quick goals to start the game. With the score 3-0 so early in the game things looked pretty bad for the Tomahawks. That's what everyone might have thought but that's not what happened. The defense of Zack Trimboli, Jordan Rose, and Thomas McDevitt stopped the Floral Park offense for the remainder of the quarter. Offensively Levittown started to come alive as well. Middies Dennis Rother, Danny Maini, and Matthew Mascoli kept the ball in the Tomahawk's offensive end of the field with great work on grounds ball and clears. Thomas Nuckel put in the Tomahawk's first goal off a great feed from Patrick Dreiss bringing the score to 3-1 ending the first quarter.
Floral Park started the second quarter like the start of the game scoring two quick goals bringing the score to 5-1. The defense led by Joseph Connors in the goal shut them down for the remainder of the half. Offensively the Tomahawks were playing great. Attackmen Patrick Buckley, Brendan McNamara, and Timothy Bailey kept pressure on the Floral Park defense but the Knight's goalie played a great game stopping shot after shot. The half ended with the Knights up 5-1.
Jamie McAndrew got things going in the second half with an unassisted goal. Thomas Nuckel added one more to bring the score to 5-3. With Thomas McDevitt in the cage the defense of Max Transou, Zach Esposito, Tyler Hassett and Joseph Connors stopped the Knight's offense in there tracks and keeping them scoreless for the entire quarter.
The hustle of Michael Esposito, Joseph Esposito, and Brian McGann in the offensive end allowed Brendan McNamara to put one more goal on the board for the Tomahawks.
Even though they came up short this week the team put forth a great effort against a very tallented opponent. The Tomahawk's next game is home against Lynbrook on Sunday, April 17 at 1:30 p.m.
