Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray (left) and Nassau County Legislator Dennis Dunne (right), both members of the Levittown Kiwanis Club, joined Levittown Kiwanis President Gary Crozier (second left) in congratulating Gail and Dave Cummo on their recognition.

The Levittown Kiwanis Club joined a dozen Levittown organizations in participating in the Gerald R. Claps Career/Technical Center's 9th Annual Recognition Night for Community Service on March 10th. Each organization selected a person or persons to honor for their dedication. The Levittown Kiwanis Club chose to recognize David and Gail Cummo who have been very active in the club for a number of years.

David has been a member of the Levittown Kiwanis Club since 1990. He has worked on various fundraisers including garages sales, pancake breakfasts and spaghetti dinners. He is also an integral part of the club's annual Community Pride Day. He served as a member of the board of directors for two years and has been the Key Club advisor for the Gerald R. Claps Career/Technical Center since 1995. He has worked with the culinary arts students at the school at Bellmore Kiwanis' Strawberry Festival and has been a Long Island South Central Division of Kiwanis Chairperson.

Gail Goldman Cummo volunteered with the Levittown Kiwanis Club for four years before ever becoming a member in 1994. She has participated in fundraisers such as garage sales, pancake breakfasts, the March of Dimes and Alzheimer's Walks and the Special Olympics. She has been the divisional chair for the Games for the Physically Challenged for five years. Most recently she has volunteered to serve as the club's interim treasurer.

Dave and Gail are truly committed to this organization of volunteers who are dedicated to changing the world one child at a time, one community at a time.

The Levittown Kiwanis Club is a very active part of the Levittown community. If you are interested in learning more about this philanthropic organization and the good works the club does, come to a meeting. Guests are welcome to attend. Levittown Kiwanis meets every Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. at:
