I am a Levittown homeowner. My children attend Salk Middle School and MacArthur High School. On Feb. 19, I had received a letter dated Feb. 17, stating that there had been a number of disturbing incidents that have taken place on or near the grounds of our schools.

The letter stated that a white male in his late 20s has been exposing himself and masturbating on our school grounds This was not just one incident but seems to be three incidents stated in this letter. He has been sited exposing himself and masturbating while sitting on the bleachers on the north end of the football field at MacArthur High School on Feb. 1 and Feb. 14. Mind you, this is on the school grounds. The students everyday cross the field to walk home from school at 2:40 p.m. He has also approached two female students between Abbey Lane and Levittown Memorial Educational Center on Feb. 15. I have been told by other parents that he is a known sex offender who lives in this area. Also the letter states that extra precautions are being taken. Police are supposed to be patrolling the areas. I pick my kids up everyday from school unaware this was going on and have yet to see a police car patrolling the schools. The schools (Salk and MacArthur) are right next to each other with a driveway separating each school.

During the week of Feb. 21, the students were on vacation. The kids were on the field practicing various sports or just hanging out. What if by chance, this man plotted to go one step further and decided to abduct a child.

As a taxpayer, I would like to know what is going on and why nothing is being done. After one incident, this should have been taken care of. Do the parents have to take this into their own hands to take care of this situation? I thought sex offenders were supposed to have no contact with children or be within so many feet of a school. This man is dangerous and when is something going to be done about it? Do the parents of Levittown have to wait until something tragic happens to one of the students?

I was made aware about several incidents during the summer at Levittown's Slate Lane pool (a block radius of the schools), where this man has been seen exposing himself and masturbating in front of children. This was from other parents who live within that area and we started patrolling on our own. When you call the local precinct all you get is the runaround.
