  • News: Dillon Announces Sentencing Of Illegal Gun Dealer

    Nassau County District Attorney Denis Dillon announced that Joseph Cucciniello, 32, of East Meadow was sentenced to nine years in prison by Nassau County Court Judge Joseph Calabrese. Cucciniello was arrested in July 29, 2003 for a series of transactions in which he illegally sold semi-automatic weapons to an undercover detective. FULL STORY

    The Island Trees Lady Dawgs Basketball team is off to a great start to their 2004-05 season. The Lady Dawgs are 7-1 overall and 2-0 in their conference. The team is led by juniors Sarah Hess and Katie Tolan who both average in double figures in scoring and rebounding. Senior Gina Brewer leads the team in assists and freshman Valerie Ahrens leads the team in steals. Sophomore Beth Hughes, freshman Angelika Paskins and eighth grader Meghan Biondolillo have ignited the defense with their energy and rebounding. Senior Megan Carlson and juniors Samantha Modik, Dominique Witteck and Lauren Mason continue to help out on the offensive end with their outside shooting.   • Sports: Registration Information

    The first registration for the 2005 Levittown Athletic Club Girls Softball season went well. The next registration will be held on Friday, Jan. 14 at the Levittown Public Library in Room A. The hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. All new players must supply a copy of their birth certificate that will be kept on file for future years. LAC has three divisions for girls in grades two through 12. There will also be three free clinics in February for all registered players. Clinics on Feb. 5 and 12 will be held at Northside School and Friday, Feb. 18 at the Island Trees Middle School. For additional information please telephone Joel Bearman at 731-1454. FULL STORY
