Excellent job by the girls varsity and JV bowling teams on their wins over MacArthur. Great games were bowled by Jen Lovaglio with a 236, Geri Silverio with a 233, Amy Strickland with a 198 and Samantha Rooks with a 179.
The Island Trees Wrestling team went one and one at the double duel meet at South Side. The Bulldogs were defeated 36-24 by South Side. In the first match, wins were posted by Tom Willoughby, Juan Marin, Joe Cusker, Jerry Franchino and Mike Cama. In the second match, the Bulldogs defeated Baldwin 49-25. Wins were posted by Tom Willoughby, Juan Marin, Joe Cusker and Scott Smath.
A job well done goes out to the seventh grade girls volleyball team on their game against Merrick. The Lady Dogs were unable to capture the win, but played strong for all five games. Notable serving was displayed by Brittany McMahon, Dana Colleluori and Jess Beissel. Teamwork dominated the match with the girls moving the ball around the court with ease.
The eighth grade Volleyball team suffered a tough loss to a solid Merrick team. Outstanding games for Christina Doscher who had four kills. Brianna Meehan had a great day serving and set Christina up for her kills. It was a great game by all the girls.
The seventh grade boys basketball team lost a very close game to Mattlin by a score of 52-50. The boys were down in the fourth period by 14 points, but battled all the way back to tie the game with 22 seconds left. After a basket by the other team with two seconds remaining, the Bulldogs just missed converting at the buzzer to tie the game. Bryan Verbitsky led the team in scoring once again with 14 points. Bryan hit several key foul shots down the stretch to tie the game. Anthony Wrightington also added 12 points and had a strong first period. Rob Castillo played well in the second half with eight points. Dan Bartlett had six points and Tyler Bauer chipped in four points. Tyler had his strongest game of the season, playing aggressive defense and going hard to the basket. John Paskins also added a basket.
