Evidence of gang-related graffiti around the Levittown area.

The Levittown Council of PTA's Health and Safety Task Force will be presenting a Gang Awareness Program titled "Gang Awareness Shock & Awe" on Wednesday, Jan. 5 at 7:30 p.m. at the Levittown Memorial Education Center Auditorium, located at 150 Abbey La. in Levittown. This program is open to all parents and community members.

The presentation will discuss why kids join gangs, how to know if your child is involved in one, the meaning of tags, flags, graffiti, colors and tattoos, gang prevention and an overview of strategies that communities can use to address youth violence.

The guest speaker will be Sergio Argueta. Argueta is a former gang member and the founder and executive director of S.T.R.O.N.G. (Struggling To Reunite Our New Generation) Youth, Inc., an organization founded on the purposes of giving alternatives to gang participation.
