The Levittown Kiwanis Club and Levittown Community Council will host a holiday tree lighting at 4 p.m. on Saturday Dec. 11 in front of HSBC Bank on Hempstead Turnpike. The organizations would like to invite anyone who is interested to join them for this festive occasion.

On Thursday, Dec. 2, Dr. Evan Blonder from the East Village Green Animal Hospital spoke to the Levittown Kiwanis Club about his business and answered questions from the members. He explained that the East Village Green Animal Hospital has been in existence since 1998 and has approximately 11,000 clients. He answered questions from the Kiwanians about everything from proper pet vaccinations to the value of pet insurance.

Speakers are frequently scheduled to speak at Kiwanis Club meetings on topics with which they are familiar.

On Jan. 20 Judge Christopher Quinn will speak to the club about the court system.

Guests are welcome to attend any meeting. Levittown Kiwanis meets every Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. at La Focaccia Restaurant, 70 East Village Green, Levittown, NY 11756, Telephone: 796-4461.

The Levittown Kiwanis Club will continue to collect food donations in order to prepare holiday baskets this month. Donations can be made at the following locations:

• Petite II Florists in the King Kullen Shopping Center at the intersection of Hempstead Turnpike and Gardiner's Avenue.

• Dr. Jack Hickey's office: 2870 Hempstead Turnpike, Levittown;

• Dr. Jacklyn Nogan's office: 25 A North Bellmore Road, Levittown;

• Mr. Beery's: 4019 Hempstead Turnpike, Bethpage or

• Kiwanis Club President Gary Crozier's home: 20 Hyacinth Road, Levittown.

Terrific Kids is a program that provides schools with a tool to reward students for special achievements that may otherwise go unnoticed. The Levittown Kiwanis Club has scheduled Terrific Kids Programs in each of the elementary and middle schools in the Levittown and Island Trees Districts for the current school year.
