The American Red Cross in Nassau County changes the lives of our community. We offer support and guidance in times of disaster. As chairman of the board and chief executive officer for the American Red Cross in Nassau County, we have the opportunity to witness the strength of the human spirit each day. As we celebrate the Thanksgiving season, the Red Cross says "thank you" to everyone whose contribution of time and money helped us help others in their time of need.
We see it in the actions of volunteers who work alongside Red Cross employees when we need their help the most. We see it in the faces of disaster victims when a Red Cross worker lends a helping hand. We see it in the dedication of health and safety instructors teaching infant CPR to new parents. We hear it in the voices of concerned donors when they call to help.
This year in Nassau County alone, the Red Cross has assisted 123 families who were personally affected by disaster. We helped more than 587 military cases through our Armed Forces Emergency Services program. We taught life-saving skills such as CPR, first aid and lifeguard training to 54,316 individuals. We educated 12,364 individuals in Disaster Preparedness and gave them the tools to know what to do in the event of a disaster. This would not have been possible without the contributions of thousands of Americans who've helped the Red Cross make a difference in communities across the nation. To each of you who've helped your fellow Americans through your contributions to the American Red Cross: Thank you.
