(Editor's Note: This letter was originally sent to Supervisor Kate Murray and is being printed here at the writer's request.)
This correspondence is in futherance of my letter to you of Sept. 16, of copy of which is herewith for your ease of reference (Oct. 1, 2004 issue of Levittown Tribune). I applaud the town for having put the 2005 budget on its website as a good government initiative.
However, I have not been able to locate on the website the audited financial statement (AFS) for year ending Dec. 31, 2003, prepared and certified by Albrecht, Viggiano, Zureck & Company, P.C. The town 2005 budget presents the town's operating environment, but it does not present the town's financial situation. Thus, I would respectfully suggest that the current AFS be added to the website as contained in my Sept. 16 communication. I have spoken to members of the town council, who, in a non-partisan, good government viewpoint, are in agreement with me on posting the AFS on the Town of Hempstead website.
In the interim, this letter will request a hard-copy of said AFS with all supporting schedules and notes.
I rest assured of your agreement with the doctrine of good government and my above stated pragmatic application of it for the Town of Hempstead. Please feel free to contact me at your earliest convenience if you wish to discuss this matter. I look forward to receiving a hard-copy of the AFS while simultaneously perusing the Town of Hempstead website periodically for its inclusion.
