As you enter Division Avenue High School you may be met by a strong gust of wind in the halls but do not be alarmed, it is just Christine Fama moving from class to class. Chrissy is a smart, athletic young lady with boundless energy and is our choice this week for a sports spotlight.
Chrissy is a senior scholar athlete and captain of the girls varsity soccer team at Division Avenue High School. She has been a member of the varsity soccer team for the past four years and led the Lady Dragons to a conference title as a sophomore. This year as a senior, the Nassau County Coaches Association selected her to the all-class team. The coaches of conference four also selected the Lady Dragons as the team that demonstrated the best sportsmanship. This is the first time in Blue Dragon history that the girls soccer team has won the conference sportsmanship award and it was due to senior leaders like Christine Fama. Chrissy is also an All-Conference, All-League, and All-County track star on a combined MacArthur/Division district team.
Christine is a fine student maintaining an overall high school average of 92 percent and leading the way for the Lady Dragons to qualify for a New York State Scholar Athlete Team Award. Chrissy was nominated for the Wendy's Heisman Award, the HOBY Award, and for Homecoming Queen.
Christine is planning to study secondary education and mathematics next year, perhaps at Adelphi University or SUNY Oneonta.
