The JV Football team registered their first victory of the 2004 campaign. All 38 members contributed to this victory. QB Matt Gelormino returned to the lineup after suffering an ankle injury two weeks ago. He put up some impressive numbers for only a half of work. He was 6 for 9 and 106 yards with 3 TD's. Matt spread the ball around on the day hooking up with WR Ralph Garcia on three occasions, one that covered 60 yards and pay dirt. PB Arton Lekaj was on the receiving end of a 12-yard TD strike from Matt. FB James Murphy rumbled in from 18 yards on a perfectly executed FB screen. James wouldn't have gotten into the end zone without the blocks of Keith Roman, Chris Caragher and Pete Molino. Dan DeDonno was the recipient of one of Matt's patented fast balls on a 2-point conversion slant route. Edwin Franco recorded his first point after a TD kick. That was one of the highest kicks I've seen in 30 years of football. Defensively the Dawgs stifled the Roslyn Bulldogs, causing three interceptions, a fumble, numerous QB sacks and a blocked punt, resulting in a safety. Speaking of special teams, Frank Baglivo returned a kickoff 70 yards for a TD. Frank also did the bulk of the running on the day with 13 carries for 81 yards and a TD. Defensively, Frank had 2 interceptions while DE Dan Hart recorded his second pick of the season. The final score was 39-22.
The Middle School Football team opened up its home schedule with a 25-12 victory over Oyster Bay. The Bulldogs had a 55-yard TD run by Anthony Wrightington and two 65 yard runs by John Howard. The highlight of the game was a 65-yard interception return for a TD by Justin Habermehl.
The Girls 8th Grade Soccer Team defeated Plainview in convincing fashion. Offensive threats Stephanie Kaiser and Nichole Coradini each had a goal, while Jesse Ciserano added two. Val LaSala also scored for her first goal of the season. Danielle Hastings posted a shutout with help from defensive specialists Ashley Moore, Rebecca Burleson, Sam Cranmer, Kim Dazo, Danielle Doller, Deanna Brown and others.
The Girls 8th Grade Soccer team picked up another victory by defeating Seaford 4-0. Danielle Hastings picked up her second shutout with help from Christina Merrill and Renee Balvin. Stephanie Kaiser scored one goal on a beautiful pass from Lindsay Fleming. Katherine Malewski had a strong all-around game nearly setting up a goal on a magnificent cross. As usual, the defense played exceptionally well and Ashley Engel, Michelle Duffy and Angelina DeLardi lent their support from the bench.
Congratulation to the Girls 7th Grade Soccer team on their 2-0 win over Wisdom Lane. Shannon Gallagher scored the first Bulldog goal off of a pas by Jenna Gallante. The second Bulldog goal was scored by midfielder Jackie Kupfer off of a perfect feed by Jen Cruz. Alana Caffrey, Joanne Falce and Jessica Pierre-Tijero all had tremendous offensive games, while Anne Badolato, Marisela Franco, Brianna Santacroce and Sylvana Rivera displayed defensive prowess throughout the game.
