The MacArthur varsity football team defeated Bellmore Kennedy last Saturday by a score of 14-8. The Generals went on a 93-yard drive with less than four minutes to go in the first half as they took a 14-0 halftime lead.
Vin D'Accordo's 10-yard touchdown pass to Joe Cammarata capped the drive that started when Bellmore punted the ball out of bounds at the MacArthur seven-yard line with 3:50 to go in the first half.
MacArthur's first touchdown came mid-way through the second quarter on a Marty Gnolfo seven-yard run. The Generals started the drive on their own 15 after Lou Cesario recovered a Bellmore fumble. Gnolfo carried five times on the eight play drive for 66 yards, and finished the day with 98 yards on 15 carries.
Defensively, Vin Candia intercepted a ball in the end zone on Bellmore's first drive. Cesario's recovery came one play after a MacArthur fumble and Anthony Vecchione recovered a Bellmore fumble around mid-field with 1:50 left in the game. Tom Page added a sack prior to Candia's interception. The Generals (2-3) host Elmont (3-2) Saturday at 2 p.m.
