On Saturday, Aug. 28, the Marty Lyons Foundation will host its 10th Annual Nassau County Bowling for Wishes event at 6:30 p.m. to be held at the North Levittown Lanes (Parkside Drive and Schoolhouse Lanes) in Levittown.

Proceeds from this event will benefit the Long Island Chapter of the Marty Lyons Foundation.

The Marty Lyons Foundation is a non-profit organization that operates nine chapters in nine states. Founded by Marty Lyons, a former NFL star defensive lineman for the New York Jets and member of the legendary "New York Sack Exchange," the foundation grants wishes to children with terminal or life threatening illnesses. More than 20 years ago, Marty was determined to establish a foundation dedicated to granting the wishes of seriously ill children after his own personal experiences with sickness and death. With the encouragement of his family and friends, he formed the Marty Lyons Foundation in 1982. Since that time, the organization has succeeded in keeping hope alive in the hearts of many children and providing support to their families.

"Wishes can make the impossible seem possible and inspire children to find courage and wish for more," said Marty Lyons. "Whether it's a wish to spend a day with a celebrity, play on a new computer or go on a shopping spree, we seek to give children and their families an opportunity to put the stress and heartache of illness on hold."

Marty and those affiliated with the Foundation believe that anyone can make a difference in the lives of children. The Foundation encourages all who are interested to participate in the Bowling for Wishes event. It is a great way to contribute to the needs of children while enjoying an evening of bowling fun with Marty Lyons and his friends.
