Lieutenant Governor Tom Gallagher and Lieutenant Governor Designate Sharon Smith joined the Levittown Kiwanis Club at their Aug. 5 meeting. They are pictured here with Club President Gary Crozier.
One of the primary goals of Kiwanis is to serve others and last week the Levittown Kiwanis Club was provided with a wonderful opportunity to assist a local family with the assistance of the Levittown Swimming Association. The Swimming Association hosted an extremely successful food drive and passed the food collected onto Kiwanis. The Kiwanis Club learned of a family that was struggling because both parents were ill and delivered the food to the grateful recipients. The Levittown Kiwanis Club hosted the most recent Long Island South Central Divisional, which took place Aug. 9 at Domenico's Restaurant. This was an organizational meeting for the New York District of Kiwanis' Convention, where club member Steve Haller will be the Convention Honoree. On Aug. 17 there will be a training conference for Key Clubs, the high school branch of Kiwanis. The Key Clubbers will be collecting school supplies to deliver to needy children. If anyone would like to assist the students in this mission they can donate school supplies on Aug. 17 from 6-8 p.m. at Eisenhower Park Field 6A. Any contributions would be greatly appreciated. The Levittown Kiwanis Club was privileged to have at their Aug. 5 meeting Long Island South Central Division of Kiwanis' Lieutenant Governor and Lieutenant Governor Designate. Lieutenant Governor Tom Gallagher, a member of the East Meadow Kiwanis Club and Lieutenant Governor Designate Sharon Smith offered words of encouragement to the club for the upcoming year. Gallagher's term as Lieutenant Governor will end in October at which time Smith will take over the position as leader of the Long Island South Central Division of Kiwanis. The division consists of 18 Kiwanis Clubs reaching from Elmont to Massapequa.

The Levittown Kiwanis Club encourages anyone interested in joining the organization to attend a meeting.

The meetings are held on Thursday nights at 6:30 p.m. at:

La Focaccia Restaurant

70 East Village Green

Levittown, NY 11756

Telephone: 796-4461

Please note that during July and August the club only meets every other week. The next meeting of the Levittown Kiwanis Club is Thursday, Aug. 19.
