The Levittown Kiwanis Club is one of 18 clubs in the Long Island South Central Division of Kiwanis. Other clubs in the division include Bellmore, East Meadow, Elmont, Franklin Square, Garden City, Hempstead, Massapequa, Merrick, Nassau County Courthouses, Nassau University Medical Center, Nassau County Young Professionals, Seaford, Town Hall, Uniondale, Wantagh, West Hempstead and the division's newest club, Lakeview. Approximately once a month all the clubs in the division meet together at a Divisional Meeting. The next Long Island South Central Divisional will be hosted by the Levittown Kiwanis Club. The meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. on August 9th at Domenico's Restaurant in the King Kullen Shopping Center at the intersection of Hempstead Turnpike and Gardiner's Avenue. This will be an organizational meeting for the New York District of Kiwanis' Convention. The convention will be held at the Buffalo Hyatt from Aug. 18-22. The Levittown Kiwanis Club and other local Kiwanis Clubs will be volunteering to help at the Special Olympics and are looking for additional volunteers. The Special Olympics will be held on Sept. 18th. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and the athletes march in at 9 a.m. Kiwanis will be distributing lunches to the athletes at 11 a.m. Please call Roe Truelove at 683-1088 for further information.

In order to become a member of Kiwanis those interested must attend three meeting and then the prospective members are voted on by the club's board of directors. The club encourages anyone interested in joining this active service organization to attend a meeting.
