'Summer of Love' Pet Adoption Program Underway
Against a backdrop of peace signs and tie-dye motifs, Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray, along with some cuddly friends from the town's animal shelter, recently announced the "Summer of Love" pet adoption program. At a press conference held earlier this month at the Mall at The Source in Westbury, the supervisor discussed her plans to wave a complement of fees at the town's animal shelter for pets that are adopted during the summer season.

Local Athletes Hold Biggest July Athletes for Life Blood Drive Ever
The July Athletes for Life blood drive is always a tough one, as folks are often reluctant to give blood in the midst of the summer running season, but this year on July 8 at the Melville Marriott, blood drive organizers were pleased to collect 74 pints - a record number for July.
