  • News: John Theissen Children's Foundation to Host School Supplies Drive

    The John Theissen Children's Foundation is continuing its efforts to help local underprivileged youngsters on Long Island go back to school in style with its Back to School Program. The foundation held a benefit Casino Night this May to help raise money for the program and has now organized a School Supplies Drive to be held the weekend of August 7 and 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. FULL STORY

  • News: Murray Warns: Vandalism Will Not be Tolerated

    Local officials and organizations met earlier this summer in an effort to form the Levittown/East Meadow Graffiti Summit, which would target incidents of not just graffiti but also vandalism and other inappropriate behaviors witnessed in the community. The group, which included Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray, Councilman Gary Hudes, police department officials from Levittown and East Meadow, civic leaders and chamber representatives, discussed ways in which small business owners and homeowners in the area can protect themselves from being vandalized. After a recent incident where some local teenagers destroyed the fence behind Pathmark on Hempstead Turnpike, those who met at the summit realized that their actions are certainly necessary.   • Sports: LAC Hosts First Ever Babe Ruth Softball Tournament

    Levittown Athletic Club (LAC) hosted their first ever Babe Ruth Softball 12 & under Metro New York State Tournament held at Azalea Road Park on July 9 through to July 11. Hundreds of family, friends, and locals gathered to witness five tough teams throughout N.Y. State. The home town LAC Yankees, H.B.Q.V.B., Pelham Bay Belles, Glen Cove, and the Yonkers Flames faced off for this prestigious championship. FULL STORY

  • Sports: LAC Hosts NYS Metro Tournament

    The Levittown Athletic Club Girls' Softball League hosted the 2004 Metro New York State Tournament over the weekend of July 9th through July 11th. Five teams from Levittown, Glen Cove, Queens, the Bronx and Yonkers competed in a double elimination tournament held at the Azalea Road Field. FULL STORY
