The Levittown Community Council, Inc., will be holding its seventh annual Lazy Days of Summer event at the East Village Green Park on Saturday, July 17 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Lazy Days event has evolved from the Levittown 50th anniversary celebration, when it first originated.

"[The event was created] as a means of keeping alive the spirit of community that was felt by all at that time," said Community Council President Donna Ryan. "It's just to let everyone know that we are all here to support them and their pride in community."

All of the images of traditional summer fun will come to life at the event as it promises all of the fun and activities of previous years.

"On that day, we will have a clown, pony ride and petting zoo, face painting, tattoos, sand art, fishing pond for the young children, balloons and basketball competitions for all ages," Ryan said.

For the adults, the council will have its traditional Bake Off contest at the end of the afternoon. Once the winner is picked, all get to sample the entries.

Residents in attendance will be entertained by music throughout the day. In addition to recorded selections, a live band or two will be on hand and residents can also enjoy some karaoke.

"There are prizes for the fishing pond, basketball contest and, of course, the Bake Off winner," Ryan noted.

The event, which is provided free by the Levittown Community Council to residents of Levittown and the surrounding communities, attracts between 200 to 250 people throughout the course of the day.

Residents are encouraged to bring their own chairs or a blanket and join their neighbors and friends for an afternoon of fun, games and entertainment at one of Levittown's magnificent pools. Those in attendance will also have the opportunity to meet with local community organizations.

The annual Lazy Days of Summer Picnic and Bake Off is a Community Council event, with sponsorship by the Levittown Kiwanis Club. The Levittown Community Council, Inc., is an umbrella group of residents and community organizations in Levittown and the surrounding area. Its purpose is to develop and maintain pride and unity within the community by working collaboratively to support the work of local organizations.
