Levinson Initiative to Curb Illegal Multi-Family Dwellings
To end the profitability and combat the growth of the illegal conversion of single-family homes to multi-family dwellings, Nassau County Assessor Harvey Levinson unveiled an initiative that will reclassify any illegal multi-family dwelling from Class I (residential) to Class 4 (commercial) property for taxation purposes. On average, the commercial property tax rate is 2 1/2 times higher than the residential rate.

Memorial Day Celebrated in Levittown
Levittown American Legion Post 1711 once again hosted the annual Memorial Day parade this year in Levittown, featuring dozens of participants who stepped off from Island Trees Middle School and headed down Hempstead Turnpike to Veterans Memorial Park outside the Levittown Library. Levittown's parade, one of the largest on Long Island, was again chaired by American Legion PPC Henry To.

Division Baseball Has Championship Season
This year, the Division varsity team finished its season with a 20-4 record. This record was good enough to earn the league A-3 League title. This was Division's 23rd league title in the past 26 years dating back to 1979. Not only did the Dragons win the league title, they made it to the fourth round of the Nassau County playoffs for the third straight year.

The girls lacrosse team had another great win against Bethpage. Strong defensive efforts were contributed by Liz and Sarah Haughney, Meghan Carey, Jackie Michelsen and Kristen Burgos. The girls moved the ball nicely with great passing by Heather Mitchell, Brianne Lopez, Val Ahrens and Kristen Walsh. Angelika Paskins had her best game of the season, scoring 4 goals. Meghan Biondolillo and Victoria DallaChiara had great saves and cleared the ball to the wings. The girls continue to improve. Way to go!
