Universal voting day for school budgets and election of trustees to the board of education is taking place next Tuesday, May 18.
Residents in the Levittown School District can vote between the hours of noon and 9 p.m. in their regular voting places. Levittown's school budget for the 2004-2005 year totals $145,082,285, which represents a 5.9 percent increase over last year's budget, which results in a tax levy increase of 9.8 percent.
Candidates to the board of education are running uncontested. Gina Interdonato, currently on the board, is running unopposed. Trustee Paul Granger is not seeking re-election and his seat will be filled by Roseann Gullans, as no other candidates are running for the position.
In Island Trees, residents can vote between noon and 9 p.m. in the Michael F. Stokes School gymnasium. Island Trees has presented a budget for 2004-2005 that represents a budget-to-budget increase of 4.5 percent. Current board trustees Peter Ray and Carl Bonsignore are both seeking re-election to the board and are both running uncontested.
