County Legislator Dennis Dunne Sr. is urging all women to participate in the Mother's Day "Peace of Mind" Breast Cancer campaign. Adelphi University's School of Social Work has established a state-wide Breast Cancer Hotline and Support Program where women and their loved ones can receive free information about the dangers of breast cancer and the importance of having an annual mammography.

"Adelphi University is providing a wonderful service for women to receive vital information regarding their health. Breast cancer is a serious disease that can be treated successfully if caught early," Dunne said. "A mammography is the first line of defense and I urge all women who need information to give the hotline a call."

Program Director Hillary Rutter noted, "Women needlessly suffer from anxiety that they have breast cancer. Peace of mind is a great gift and it can be achieved simply by having an annual mammography." The program has been providing free services to women all over New York State for 24 years.

"I applaud Ms. Rutter, her staff and Adelphi University for this tremendous resource they provide to the residents of New York State," Dunne added.
