The Levittown Kiwanis Club invites residents to its fifth annual Community Pride Day, to be held at McLaren Field on Saturday, May 8 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Community Pride Day is an annual event designed to give the residents of the community an opportunity to celebrate the spirit that makes the Levittown area the great community that it is today. Local organizations are invited each year to showcase what is best about them and to display their involvement in the community.
The event is free and open to all residents. In addition to having groups display information, Community Pride Day also has plenty of activities for families to enjoy. In year's past, children have enjoyed face painting, pony rides, bicycle safety instruction from the Nassau County Police Department's 8th Precinct POP Unit and the Levittown Fire Department's Smokehouse, where they can learn about fire safety. In addition, Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray, a member of the Kiwanis Club, and Town Clerk Mark Bonilla, will be bringing a Mobile Child Safety ID unit to provide parents with the opportunity to have their children fingerprinted and photographed, as well as other safety measures. This year's event will feature a live local band, which will provide musical entertainment. Refreshments will also be available.
Originally planned as part of Levittown Kiwanis' 50th Anniversary celebration in 2000, Community Pride Day was such a successful that it was continued annually as a way for Levittown to showcase all that is good in the community. Everyone is invited to McLaren Field on May 8 to celebrate community pride.
