Finding role models for kids to emulate is a difficult task but the athletes at Division Avenue High School have to look no further than their own halls to find one. For the past four years Katie Cooley has epitomized the ideas of a scholar-athlete.

Katie has spent her time at Division Avenue as an active participant in school activities. In addition to being a member of the Varsity Softball and Basketball teams, Katie has also found time to get involved in many of the extra-curricular clubs that the school offers. By displaying a positive attitude and tremendous work ethic, Katie is viewed as a leader by her peers and teammates. Katie has been elected the captain of the JV Softball team, the parliamentarian of the Student Council, and she is currently the senior vice-president of Division Avenue's Honor Society. Always looking to help others, Katie has helped raise over $2000 for the Mercy Hospital Hospice, coaches a local CYO basketball team and was instrumental in the school's efforts to raise money and supplies after the 9/11 tragedy.

Katie plans on attending either NYIT or Mount St. Mary upon her graduation this June, where she plans on studying elementary education.
