The Lady Bulldogs had a great game against Seaford. Junior pitcher Lori Brennan had a great day, holding the Vikings to 4 hits and 2 runs. It was scoreless until the bottom of the 4th, when the Vikings scored 2. In the top of the 7th, the Lady Dawgs made it close. Eighth grader Alysha Ciaramitaro singled, stole 2nd and 3rd and scored on a sacrifice fly by senior Kate Schamberger. Close, but no cigar, a 2-1 loss. Great defense in this game was provided by left fielder Nicole Carrazanna and infielders Kate Schamberger and Megan Carlson. Colleen Cunningham led the offense by going 2 for 2. Next up was a non-league game against the Baymen at Oyster Bay. It was another great game for Lori Brennan, who is filling in for injured pitcher, Lauren Poplawski. This time it was a 4-2 win. Brennan allowed just one hit in the bottom of the 6th, finishing with a 1 hitter. The offense was provided by leadoff batter Lauren Mason, who scored 2 of the 4 runs for the Bulldogs. Eighth grader Alysha Ciaramitaro continued her hot streak with 2 more hits and she threw out another runner trying to steal. Beth Hughes had a 2-run triple, adding to her RBI total. Megan Carlson and Michelle McGurk had great games at 3rd and 2nd base handling all 8 shots hit at them.
The Island Trees Girls JV Lacrosse team played its second game of the season against Roslyn. The Lady Dawgs won a tough game by a score of 9-7. Goals were scored by Samantha Modik, Sarah Burleson, Shannon Lehosky, Meghan Sguigna and Meaghan Davis. Maggie Pepitone played a great game in goal and contributions were made by the entire team. The team also won a tough game against Great Neck North 8-3. Contributions have been made by the entire team, and the girls are looking forward to a successful season. The Lady Bulldogs has a record of 3-1.
The Boys Varsity Track team posted a great performance at their first home competition. Leading the Bulldogs was Christian Blauvelt, who posted personal records in the high jump and triple jump. A height of 5 ft. 10 ins. and length of 38 ft. 1/2 in. places Christian among the best in the county. Sophomore Alex Romero had 110 high hurdles and took 3rd place. Junior Steve Battafarano placed 1st in the 2 mile and anchored the 4 x 800 relay. Congratulations on a great performance and for putting on a great meet.
