The boys opened their season against Port Washington in a league game and came out on top with a 14-5 victory. The offense, led by their attack, did a fine job scoring and passing, all three scored. Leading the way was Jimmy Davis, who popped the net four times. Billy Bruckbauer netted three and Sean Hall followed up with one. Midfield had a strong game also, getting to ground balls with good hustle.
Scoring for this unit was Tommy Davis, who netted three goals; Timmy Ramo netted two and James Davis followed with one goal. The faceoff unit was below .500 average but Kevin Constantine went 6 for 8 on faceoffs. The defense played well for their first game. Leading this unit are three seniors with steady influence. John Terrillon kept this unit together and Rocky Murray and Sean Gilbert played fine defense on their men. Goalie Frank Melhaus faced only eight shots in his playing time.
In their second game, Division played against the North Shore Vikings, defeating them 18-7. The boys played with great ball control throughout the game. Leading goal scorers were three guys who all scored four goals each - Billy Bruckbauer, Tommy Davis and Jimmy Davis. Midfielder Tim Leonardo hit the net three times and Billy Fama chipped in with two goals. James Davis netted one. Tommy Davis also had five assists in this contest. The faceoff unit was stronger in this game. The Dragons have four guys and they all did fine. The two best were Tommy Davis, who went 5 for 6 and Kevin Constantine won 8 of 9. Defense wasn't tested in this game often. Goalie Frank Melhaus had faced only 11 shots, three that were solid. Defensemen Rocky Murray and John Terrillon played solid again to start the Blue Dragons' season with two straight wins in the opening week of their season. Keep hustling Dragons.
