American Legion Hosts Annual Americanism Awards Night
American Legion Post 1711 hosted its annual Americanism Awards Night last Friday at its post on Jerusalem Avenue in Levittown. The legion honored groups and/or individuals for their efforts in helping members of the community, something they do on a daily basis but for which they are rarely, if ever, recognized.

Joseph Saladino Elected Assemblyman of 12th District
On Tuesday, residents of the 12th Assembly District elected Republican Joseph Saladino to be their representative in the Assembly. Saladino succeeds former Assemblyman Steve Labriola, who vacated the seat in January after being elected to the town clerk's office in the Town of Oyster Bay. Massapequan Saladino, who received 3,501 votes, defeated William Funk, also of Massapequa, who received 1,689.

East Meadow High School's boys basketball team held its fifth annual fund raiser through the Coaches vs. Cancer program in conjunction with the American Cancer Society.

Division Avenue High School will be host to the 6th Annual Levittown Lax Tournament. This is an annual event that showcases the talents of the three local High Schools, Island Trees, MacArthur, and Division Avenue, along with this year's invited team, Mineola.
